An Introduction to LID:

Design Concepts and Practical Recommendations for Implementation

 

The presentation will

·        Identify the principles of LID

·        Describe the connection between LID and the LEED process and connect it to green building principles.

·        Define both structural BMPs, such as green roofs and rain gardens and non-structural BMPs, such as re-vegetation strategies.

·        Provide a focus on green infrastructure techniques such as bioretention basins and Illustrate installation tips, plant selection and maintenance recommendations along with general sizing, effectiveness and

·        cost data.

At least 30 minutes will be allotted to questions._

 

Scott Dierks’ professional experience extends back twenty years. He has a BS in civil engineering from the University of Rhode Island and an ME in environmental engineering from the University of Florida. Since “wetting his feet” in CSOs, he has concentrated on hydrology and ecological engineering. Scott is a licensed civil engineer in Michigan and manages the Ann Arbor office for Cardno-JFNew, a native plant nursery and ecological services consulting firm. One of his main focus areas for the last ten years has

been Low Impact Development (LID) BMP monitoring, analysis and design.
