Here are answers to some frequently asked questions by category:
How can I join the chapter?
Complete instructions on how to join have been posted on the Membership page. Anyone who joins the chapter will need to first make sure that they have established a USGBC website account. This join online link will allow you to join the West Michigan Chapter with the option of creating a new account. Also, if your firm decides to procure National membership, our local Chapter will receive a portion of the membership fees if that firm denotes the West Michigan Chapter as the referring chapter.
What types of membership do you offer?
Various types of membership and costs of joining are listed on our Membership page. Joining as a member of USGBC National depends on type of organization and size and can be found online at USGBC.
What are the differences in National and Chapter Membership?
There is a chart on our Membership page that shows the comparison of benefits.
I am a new member. Now what?
Welcome and congratulations! We are so glad that you have decided to take this important step. Members gain access to a vast network of green building expertise, and connections with other sustainability-minded individuals both locally and nationally. Membership in the West Michigan Chapter of the USGBC also entitles you to discounts on local educational events. You must be a member of National to obtain the discounts on LEED Technical Reviews, LEED Reference Guides, the LEED-AP Exam, LEED Project registration and LEED Certification fees.
New members often find it helpful to attend a Member Circle - a member-driven, focused exchange of ideas, resources and information. Click here for more information on the dates/times for Member Circle Meetings. Also watch our calendar of events for topics that may interest you.
If you are beginning your professional career or are a student, you may want to consider exploring the Emerging Green Builders program.
Finally, if you have any further questions, feel free to contact the chapter through Contact Us
