Aquinas College Academic Building (2nd Floor)

Built in 1955 and renovated in 2008, the 2nd level of the Aquinas College Academic Building includes lecture spaces, faculty offices, and a large gathering space. Numerous green components were incorporated into the project, earning a LEED certification at the silver level.

Large windows and open-air design allows daylight to be maintained in 75% of spaces and views in 90% of the seated spaces. Water use was reduced by 30% with dual flush water closets, censored faucets, ultra-low flow urinals, and faucet aerators. Indoor air quality is maintained with low or no-VOC emitting materials, carpets meeting the CRI Green Label Plus criteria, and a green cleaning program. Over 75% of all construction waste was diverted from local landfills through recycling and reuse.
