Aquinas College Ravine Apartment D
In 2008, Rockford Construction completed the newest apartment complex for Aquinas College, Ravine Apartment D. This 3-story, 24,000 sq. ft. structure that houses 64 beds was awarded a LEED certification at the basic level.
Located on the east side of campus, the Aquinas College Ravine Apartment Building D facility overlooks a nature preserve area and creek bed. Trees and plantings were chosen for their native or adaptive qualities, and storm water runoff is routed through infiltration basins. Water use was reduced 23.2 percent by carefully selecting water efficient fixtures and equipment. To reduce environmental impact, 47 percent of construction materials were sourced within a 500 mile radius of Aquinas. Furthermore, 21 percent of materials used contain recycled content. The project team recycled 95 percent of the construction and land clearing debris.
