David D. Hunting YMCA

The David D. Hunting YMCA opened to the community on July 5, 2005 as the first LEED-certified YMCA in the United States. This 159,000 ft2, 4-story facility sits on 3.19 acres in downtown Grand Rapids and contains: two full-sized basketball courts, four racquetball/squash courts, one seventh mile track, warm water family pool, competitive lap pool, full feature locker rooms, two climbing walls, cardio and strength fitness center, two group exercise studios, chapel, multiple program and community areas, a licensed/accredited child development center, and the corporate offices for the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.

The facility features include: day-lighting, water conservation, 18kW photovoltaic array, low emissivity glass, certified wood, and improved indoor air quality through low emitting materials.
