Knapp Forest Elementary School

Knapp Forest Elementary was designed by the architects of Kingscott and Associates in partnership with a large committee of community and staff volunteers. Throughout the design process, the emphasis was on building a child-friendly school that would foster a strong sense of community and enhance students learning.

To achieve this, the entire school is wireless and functions as one large computer lab. Classrooms are grouped in neighborhoods of grades K-2, 3-4, and 5-6. Classroom windows into the hallways were placed at children's heights. There are neighborhood spaces outside the classrooms for individual or small group learning. The use of kick-proof drywall instead of cement block creates a home-like feeling for students.
