Nichols Paper & Supply
In 2006, Nichols renovated a 110,000 square foot warehouse to re-locate its corporate headquarters and main distribution center. The decision to pursue LEED® certification for Existing Buildings came shortly thereafter, and Nichols received LEED Gold Certification in June of 2010. In the last few years, several upgrades were necessary to keep the building running in optimal condition. Warehouse lighting systems were improved, low-flow restroom fixtures were installed with motion sensors, and a green cleaning policy was implemented. An extensive recycling program has reduced waste hauling fees by over 90 percent. Nichols made shipping efficiency improvements fleet-wide, and made a decision to purchase green office supplies and local and organic food whenever possible.
