News:
Building a Greener Industry
The National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) recently issued it's premier issue of The Cornerstone: A Construction Publication for Workforce Development Professionals. It features an article titled "Building a Greener Industry" in which two USGBC West Michigan Chapter members are highlighted. Brian Shultz, Construction Trades Manager at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) and Board Member of the West Michigan Chapter, offers his insight on recycled construction materials and how GRCC incorporates these in their construction trades education. It also quotes Sam Pobst, who is the Chair, and West Michigan Chapter representative, of the Heartland Regional Council of the US Green Building Council (USGBC). The USGBC developed the LEED Green Building Rating System. Congratulations to Brian and Sam for their inclusion and recognition in this nationally published magazine!
