Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a third-party certification program for buildings and communities that guides their design, construction, operations and maintenance toward sustainability.

LEED works for all building types, from corporate offices to homes.  It’s a way of saying, “My building is sustainable and highly efficient.”  Each building or project that registers for LEED certification earns points to achieve a certification level: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Points are earned based off of the sustainable practices implemented during the construction and renovation phase of building.  Your building is then certified by the number of points it achieved.  The more points achieved, the higher the certification.

The LEED Committee meets once a month on the dates listed below.  Every meeting is held from 10:00 am – 11:30 am.  Our committee was formed to spotlight LEED in West Michigan.  We work to advocate for and educate on the benefits of high efficient, sustainable building practices.

Green building certification is important to our committee because certification means accountability.  We aim to spotlight past, present, and future LEED projects in the area through various media platforms.

If you have LEED spotlight ideas to share, we’d love to hear from you!  If you’re interested in joining us, please fill out this form so we know to expect you, and you will receive up to date information as we move forward.
